The Event

When Motorfinity were launching the new car leasing side of their business they contacted NAV to support all the AV and lighting hire requirements for the VIP event. The venue was Stubton Hall near Newark in Nottinghamshire, a 19th century country house hotel and events venue. Our client was looking for the wow factor throughout the venue; from the guests arrival up the imposing gravel drive, through a series of reception rooms and in to the ballroom for presentations on the main stage.

During the site visit we did a ‘walkthrough’ paying careful attention to each space the guests would experience, lighting was specifically selected to highlight and enhance each area. The event was starting at 6pm at a time of the year when it would already be dark, eight cars were positioned in front of the main entrance, lit by x6 high powered Easycolour RGBW floodlights, x6 other floodlights were used to light the building itself and highlight some surrounding trees. A red carpet and rope & chrome poles were setup to guide the VIP guests in style to the main entrance.

In the first reception room a large letter ‘M’ representing Motorfinity, was simply washed in shocking pink as a visually impressive backdrop for the arrival photographs. The second Reception room for drinks and canapés was low-key and purposely in stark contrast to the previous warm and colourful entrance lighting. Blue and 5600k cool white PAR18 uplights were selectively used to highlight the walls and a human sculpture performance. After the arrival drinks reception guests were then led through the network of hall corridors and across an outdoor walkway, all illuminated in Motorfinity colours of blue and pink. This then transitioned them seamlessly in to the main event space.

The main ballroom was also lit in brand colours, blue and pink LED uplighters washed across the walls and ceiling creating a warm and colourful ambience. LED moving heads were programmed to slowly scan the room, adding to the overall effect. To compliment the lighting, our Video Production Department had created a series of logo animations that were projected on to a side wall, these slowly transitioned throughout the night, adding to the ambience and reinforcing the brand, but carefully designed so as not to detract from the stage presentation area.

The stage set was designed to be simple, but effective. Covered in black tricord material, the backdrop housed a 2.8 metre wide rear projection screen, used with a high brightness projector. A 6 metre wide stage and one of our stylish silver presentation lecterns completed the set-up. Key members of our clients team made a series of PowerPoint based presentations, followed up by an inspirational guest speaker to round off the highly successful event.

Our client kindly commented:  The night went off without a hitch, thanks for all you and your teams work. We couldn’t fault anything’.
